Guestview Point: City must step up to make housing affordable

City must step up to make housing affordable

WE CAN's latest Guest Viewpoint in the Register Guard speaks about the need for housing choice for all residents.

As the housing affordability crisis has become more acute across the country, it has become clear that a prime cause is lack of housing supply. In cities where people want to live and are migrating to — including Eugene — housing regulations have led to a shortage of housing of all types. An adequate supply of new housing, both rental and for purchase, relieves the price pressure on older homes, allowing the older housing stock to remain more affordable.
