Pedestrian Deaths Increasing

A new report from the Governor's Highway Safety Association show that pedestrian death are increasing across the nation. Oregon saw the number of pedestrian deaths in our state double between the first six months of 2014 and the first six months of 2015. Only Ohio was worse.

Creating neighborhoods that are safe to walk should be a top priority for our communities. Vision Zero and other efforts to improve the safety of everyone on our roads are absolutely essential, as is slowing down traffic and designing new development for walkability. It isn't just a matter of preserving neighborhood livability, it is a matter of preserving lives.
